The tits' favorite – that lasts a long time!
Irresistible food for great tits, blue tits, and crested tits, who seem to prefer peanuts over sunflower seeds. Like shelled sunflower seeds, peanuts are completely free of waste.
The great spotted woodpecker and the rare nutcracker also prefer peanuts served in a peanut feeder.
Using a peanut feeder ensures they last longer. The birds peck off small bits of peanut from the feeder. If the birds are given whole peanuts at once, they run out quickly. Most likely, they drop most of it on the ground while breaking it into smaller, edible pieces.
The organic raw peanuts we purchase in bulk are classified as food when they arrive at our warehouse but are formally considered feed when they leave us.
Make your own roasted peanuts by placing them on a baking tray and roasting them at 150-175°C until they develop a nice roasted flavor. Then pour over a salt solution and mix so the salt absorbs – you can leave them in the oven at 50°C to dry out further.
Our peanuts are organically grown in China and result in a transport emission equivalent to 0.75kWh/kg (0.2kg CO2 equivalent/kg) from the farm to our warehouse.
