Here's how easy it is to get a registration number!

We can sell you organic Swedish suet from naturally grass-fed cattle only after you have obtained a registration number from the Swedish Board of Agriculture. The reason for this is to ensure that any potential infections can be traced more quickly.

It only takes a couple of minutes to complete the registration and it is completely free!

Once you have received your registration number from the Swedish Board of Agriculture, it is important to email it to us at info@slattergubben.se. Ideally, we should already have your registration number when you place your order, but if you're eager to get the suet, it is acceptable for us to receive it afterward.

Why does Slåttergubben need your registration number?

Our organic suet is an untreated animal byproduct. When such a product is to be transported somewhere, it must be accompanied by a commercial document showing the buyer's registration number. This is so that the Swedish Board of Agriculture can quickly trace any potential infections.

When you order organic suet from us, we fill out a commercial document. The document is prepared in three copies: one that is archived with us, one for the transporter, and one for you as the customer!

Isn't this unnecessarily complicated?

Yes, one might think so, but rules are rules.

As is often the case, it's more complicated to do things right, i.e., buying organic suet (which already requires significantly more administration and costs for certification compared to non-organic tallow). Suet from grass-fed animals that have grazed on Swedish natural pastures and contributed to increased biodiversity.

At the same time, no permits are required at all to buy suet balls made from conventionally-raised cattle in Europe, fed on soy-based feed, the cultivation of which contributes to deforestation in Brazil.

No matter what we think about this, these permits are required because the tallow is untreated. Hopefully, in the future, we can sell Swedish melted (treated) organic suet! Then no permits will be needed.

The Swedish Board of Agriculture informs!

On the Prohibition of feeding wild animals with animal food waste. This is to prevent the spread of African swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease.
