The Best Bird Book!
There are bird books, and then there is Fågelguiden "The Bird Guide!"
We are selling the third and most recent edition, released in the winter of 2023/24.
This is the book to own if you want to learn how to properly identify bird species. It contains highly detailed images and descriptions. There are great tips on what to look for, along with images of birds sitting, swimming, and flying in all varieties.
The different plumage of birds, depending on gender, age, and the seasons (winter and summer), is fully illustrated.
Common confusion risks are always explained pedagogically and often compared side-by-side in pictures.
Distribution maps are provided for each bird, indicating where and when they can be found during the different seasons.
The book covers all species found in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
That might be the only downside of The Bird Guide—if you're a beginner, it might be a bit overwhelming to flip through all the pages before finding the right bird.
If you mostly want to know the names of the most common birds, a bird book describing just the most common species will take you far. In that case, The Bird Guide can serve as a supplement once you're a bit more comfortable as a bird enthusiast!
If you want to know more about the most common (and rarest) birds at your bird feeder, our lovely bird school ranks the species by their frequency.
