For smaller tits - 25mm opening
Suitable for Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Crested Tit, and Marsh Tit
We are very pleased with these nest boxes from Plockhugget. There’s hardly a better way to manage forests for birds and biodiversity than this. With their continuous cover forestry, 10% of the forest set aside for free development, eternal trees, and a complete halt to draining and ditch clearing, Plockhugget truly lives up to FSC and PEFC standards, while adding multiple extra dimensions that are even better for biodiversity and the forest's ability to store CO2.
The birdhouse is delivered as a build-it-yourself kit. A perfect opportunity for a fun and creative time with children or grandchildren. With the help of the instructions, you or the children can assemble the nest boxes in 20-45 minutes. Then, it’s exciting to paint or decorate it however you wish. Let your creativity, or your children's creativity, flourish so that each birdhouse becomes unique.
The nest boxes come with pre-drilled holes for assembly. You’ll also receive materials for assembly, nails for hanging, and a piece of roofing felt to protect the roof. All you need is a hammer and a screwdriver!
You can also attract small tits to boxes with larger entrance holes, but this guarantees that the larger and more competitive great tit will be kept away.
For a better chance of attracting marsh tits, you can set up the boxes in pairs. The slightly stronger blue tit doesn't want another blue tit as a neighbor. However, a marsh tit is fine. Marsh tits prefer slightly damper deciduous forests, ideally dense ones. They can also breed relatively close to humans.
For crested tits, add some wood shavings to the bottom, and the nest box should be placed in a larger coniferous forest where the crested tit can be found.
