When it comes to scythes, there are short snaths suitable for everyone, including both Austrian and Nordic scythes. The Nordic scythe snaths come in 16 lengths, many of which are tailored for the very short-statured. Since it can be expensive to continually buy new Nordic handles for children as they grow, we offer an exchange service for scythe snaths as children grow. This means you buy the first handle and then only pay for shipping and a small administration fee during exchanges. There is currently no function for this in the webshop, but simply contact us via email or phone, and we will arrange it in the smoothest way possible!
The very best scythe blade for children is the 50cm grass blade - it is short and very easy to use for cutting grass (as long as it is sharp and the angles are correctly adjusted). My own sons used this blade from when they were four years old up to ages 12-13. At that age, they were faster than most adults, even though they used short handles and short scythe blades. Ultimately, most of the efficiency comes down to technique and physical capability. Therefore, a short blade is also good for those who have their strongest days behind them. Besides being lightweight, its advantages include easier maneuverability in tight spaces and requiring less time and effort to set up. It also takes up less storage space, of course.
