Blight-resistant seed potatoes

Now that winter and sub-zero temperatures have taken hold, we are pausing the sale of seed potatoes. However, the cellar is well-stocked, so feel free to purchase again from April.

Hössna Red is an old reliable cultural variety of potato, yielding an enormous harvest and is completely blight resistant! The flesh is white but the skin is reddish, the potatoes are often slightly oval, smooth, and fine. Some can grow very large, up to one kilogram! It is not uncommon to have 3kg of potatoes per plant at harvest if they have received plenty of light, nutrients, and water.

Become self-sufficient with your own seed potatoes.
When you harvest the potatoes, set aside the green and suitably sized fine potatoes for seed next year. It's that simple! The seed potatoes can remain outside in the light until the first frost night—then they must be brought indoors, preferably to a root cellar. Do not store them in airtight containers or plastic bags; they need to be airy and fairly cool. If you don't have such a space, you can bury them deeply in the ground over the winter and protect them from voles if there's a risk of them being taken. Then plant them out in May, but remember that potato foliage cannot withstand frost! If you want an earlier harvest, bring them out in March and pre-cultivate them indoors, but be sure to cover them if frost occurs!

The plants become enormous with rich soil and good water supply. So, it's recommended to maintain a distance of 50cm between the tubers and 1m between the rows!

They grow until frost or voles take them. Suitable for most uses - mashed potatoes, wedges, etc.!

I have a small household cultivation of the variety and find it so fantastic - that's why I want to spread it, as long as the supply lasts... it is not certified organic but of course, we use no pesticides or chemical fertilizers here on the farm.
